Clinical Trials rollout of Inventory Management system

OBS Logistics has implemented a clinical trials solution to manage the inbound and outbound inventory operation for a number of the global medical device companies.

The solution includes full medical number tracking throughout the process. There are now 12 clients using the system and the benefits achieved have exceeded expectations with a 90% reduction in the warehouse paperwork and inventory receipt and putaway tasks that would have previously taken 2 days now being completed in under 2 hours. With this success, the roll-out is continuing at a fast pace.

New Healthcare client for OBS Logistics Transport Management (TMS)

OBS Logistics has successfully implemented the OBS Logistics TMS solution into their first client in the UK healthcare sector.

The solution includes integration to parcel management and in-cab solutions, tracking at item level, and planning across 100’s of vehicles. The solution will support future expansion in the healthcare market with more “go lives“ expected later in 2009.

OBS Logistics Web Tracking in the Middle East

DHL have gone live on the OBS Logistics web tracking module for a major client in the Middle East.

The solution provides real time visibility to the millions of transport orders processing through the OBS Logistics Transport Management solution and when fully deployed over 10,000 users will be able to track their shipments throughout the DHL transport network.

CALIDUS TMS go live in Poland

The CALIDUS TMS solution has been successfully implemented in Poland for DHL. The first client is a major global manufacturer of consumer brands.

The TMS will provide order management, planning and execution within Poland. The solution includes integration to Navteq for time/distance calculations and the presentation of the proposed route on a map and will be rolled out to further contracts during the rest of 2009.

A Third Party Logistics provider has gone live with two clients using the OBS Logistics CALIDUS warehouse management system. One is an American cosmetics company and the other is a European company specialising in designer fragrances.

CLIT

Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport WMS forum

OBS Logistics is an active member of the CILT WMS forum committee and has an established role within regular events aimed at CILT members interested in the latest trends and developments in Warehouse Management Systems.

Previous CILT event – Taking the Mystery out of Software as a Service 31st March 2009

OBS Logistics recently participated in a CFILT WMS forum event designed to explain and qualify Software as a Service (SaaS). Stephen McCartney of OBS Logistics presented a DHL Solution as a Service case study.  Solution as a Service is an enhanced version of SaaS. Paul Doherty of 7 Global gave a presentation outlining SaaS from a Hosted Services Provider point of view. Snap Fulfil’s Gavin Clarke introduced the audience to statistics showing the growth in the market and trends in the industry. Lionel Moore, Anisa group Finance Director gave a presentation exploring a broad range of industry offerings from a financial perspective.

This CILT session included a wide ranging review of the pros and cons of various types of services that are available and the morning was concluded by a lively open questions session.  The event was well attended and actively participated, with subsequent feedback from the delegates being very positive.  The sessions were described as highly informative and overall the consensus was that the objective was achieved with credit going to CILT for event organisation and the choice of venue.

NEW EUROPEAN DISTRIBUTION CENTRE

OBS Logistics extends its relationship with a leading Carpet Retailer

CALIDUS WMS has been implemented by OBS Logistics at a new European Distribution Centre for a leading Carpet Retailer. CALIDUS is integrated with state of the art carpet cutting machines to efficiently prepare customer orders from roll stock. This follows on from the client having successfully used CALIDUS for several years for its warehousing operations.

OBS Logistics’ Project Manager Sion Evans explained: ‘CALIDUS WMS is operating in the 400,000 square foot facility dealing with customer orders from across Europe. The system manages the carpet roll stock and plans the cuts to be made from each roll to minimise waste, then interfacing the cutting instructions through to the cutting machines for cutting and preparation for despatch. It is a very impressive operation and one that OBS Logistics is proud to have been involved.’

HOSTED TMS SOLUTION

OBS Logistics wins prestigious contract for its Hosted Transport Management Systems Solution

Following a number of years providing facilities management services as an additional service for clients operating OBS Logistics’ WMS and TMS solutions, OBS Logistics has launched its hosted service model. A most prestigious contract, for one of the leading third party logistics companies, involves the hosting of a TMS solution for 1000 users across Europe and the Middle East. The systems are hosted in OBS Logistics’ data centre in Runcorn Cheshire.

Dave Renshaw, CEO of OBS Logistics: ‘The client recognised how they could benefit from having their TMS solution managed, hosted and developed into the future by a company with expertise in TMS solutions and continued commitment to focusing its business in the logistics market. They also liked the commercial model OBS Logistics was able to propose matching costs to system usage.’

GLOBAL ROLLOUT OF RF TASK MANAGEMENT

OBS Logistics has continued the rollout of the RF driven Task Management module to one of the largest telecoms companies in the world.

The first European site in Hungary went live prior to Christmas 2008 and is surpassing the clients targets in terms of return on investment with much higher productivity and accuracy rates than expected.

The second European site is now live, and the rollout will continue to the Americas and Asia later in 2009.

HOSTED SERVICES

The success of achieving ISO 27001 has been followed up with the addition of a significant new contract win.

OBS Logistics has commenced a 3 year contract to host a fleet management application for a leading provider to the major car manufacturers for the management of fleets of demonstration vehicles.

The system went successfully live in January 2009, hosted from our Runcorn data centre and the contract covers the hosting, development and support of the Oracle based Fleet Management application.
